Courtney Alvarez

Courtney Alvarez is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). She is certified as a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), and Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CCMHC) by the National Board for Certified Counselors. She completed her Masters of Science in Marriage, Couples, and Family Counseling and Doctor of Philosophy in Counselor Education at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi. Courtney is also a Registered Play Therapist – Supervisor (RPT-S) and currently serves on the board of the Pennsylvania Association for Play Therapy. In addition to her work at Summit, Courtney teaches in the Masters in Professional Counseling Program at Carlow University.

 

Courtney provides counseling from a holistic, wellness-oriented framework using Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Adlerian Counseling. She believes that incorporating self-compassion, humor, creative expression, and play in counseling helps individuals gain improved perspective and free themselves from the thoughts and behavioral patterns that keep them stuck. Her work with clients builds on client strengths to improve functioning and build a balanced life through the major life tasks of work, love, friendship, spirituality/meaning making, and self.
