Melyssa Mercurio, Psy. D., NCSP, MT-BC
Dr. Mercurio is a Licensed Psychologist, a Nationally Certified School Psychologist, and a Board-Certified Music Therapist. She obtained her Doctor of Psychology and Master’s in Child Psychology from Duquesne University. She attended the State University of New York at Fredonia to obtain her Bachelor’s degrees in Music Therapy and Psychology. Dr. Mercurio has extensive experience in psychoeducational testing, assessment, consultation, and intervention with school-aged children with various abilities and needs. She is especially passionate for working with children of all ages, as well as with their caregivers. She regularly collaborates with schools and other treatment providers to ensure comprehensive care.
Dr. Mercurio holds certification in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) working with children and adolescents recovering from trauma. She implements an integrative and personalized approach to treatment in order meet the needs of each individual with whom she works. She strives to build positive relationships at the foundation of treatment and incorporates the use of evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), behavior management, music therapy, and mindfulness-based approaches.
