Melyssa Mercurio, Psy. D., MT-BC
Dr. Mercurio obtained her Doctoral degree in School Psychology and Master’s in Child Psychology at Duquesne University. She attended the State University of New York at Fredonia to obtain her Bachelor’s degrees in Music Therapy and Psychology. She is completing her post-doctoral residency with Summit in order to obtain licensure as a psychologist. Dr. Mercurio is a board-certified music therapist, and is presently working towards obtaining her credentials as a Nationally Certified School Psychologist. Dr. Mercurio has extensive experience in psychoeducational testing, assessment, consultation, and intervention with school-aged children with various abilities and needs. She is especially passionate for working with children of all ages, as well as with their caregivers. She regularly collaborates with schools and other treatment providers to ensure comprehensive care.
Dr. Mercurio implements an integrative and personalized approach to treatment in order meet the needs of each individual with whom she works. She strives to build positive relationships at the foundation of treatment and incorporates the use of evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), behavior management, music therapy, and mindfulness-based approaches.
